Mumbai Indians Becomes Champion in a last-ball Thriller

New Delhi: On the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium of Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Superjoint Beach got a spectacular final match. Before the match, the winds of victory were flowing for Pune, but the last time Mumbai beat Mumbai.
In a very exciting match, Mumbai Indians beat Pune by just one run and made history for the third time with their name trophy.

This is the first time in the IPL history that when a team becomes the champion for the third time. Mumbai got this honor in the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first but the question of Rohit Sharma's decision began to arise when Mumbai lost two wickets for just 16 runs in the first five overs.


Above Mumbai's pressure: Pune's bowlers in the first five overs were completely dominated by the Mumbai batsmen. But in the sixth over, Mumbai got 16 runs. In this over, Rohit Sharma scored four boundaries. With all these four rounds, the pressure which was over Mumbai was removed. But Ambati Rayudu was run out after just 12 runs. After Raidu, Rohit Sharma could not stay in the field for too long. In the 11th over, Rohit Sharma was giving his wicket to Adam Zampa in an attempt to hit the six. After Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard gave his wicket to Zampa for a long shot.

Mumbai's return to the last three overs: After 11 overs, Mumbai scored just 65 runs for five wickets. All the big batsmen had returned to the pavilion. The Kunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya were present on the pitch, it was expected that the two brothers would do something special. But it was not that Mumbai's score was 78 when the hearty Pandya was dismissed. It seemed that Mumbai Indians would not be able to cross the 100 mark. After 17 overs, Mumbai scored 92 runs for 7 wickets. 13 runs in the 18th over, ten in the 19th and 14 runs in the last over. Mumbai's score thus reached 129.


Pollard's superb catch: Pune's good start. After 11 overs, Pune scored 65 runs for only one wicket. Due to the wicket in hand, it was expected that Pune will comfortably win this match. Captain Steven Smith himself and Ajinkya Rahane were present on the pitch. Mitchell Johnson came in to bowl in the 12th over Rahane tried to hit six on the fifth ball of this over and the ball went into the air. Standing at long on, Kieron Pollard took a spectacular catch by driving a dive forward and Rahane returned to the pavilion with 44 runs.

After Dhoni's dismissal, the pressure came on Pune: Mahendra Singh Dhoni came out to bat on the field after Rahane was dismissed. Captain Smith and Dhoni slowly took the innings forward while saving the wickets. After 15 overs, Pune scored 83 runs for 2 wickets. When Dhoni and Smith were on the pitch, it was expected that Pune would win the match. Criminal Pandya came to bowl on behalf of Mumbai. In this over, Dhoni scored a boundary, then Smith scored a magnificent six. Jaspreet Bumrah came to the 17th over Bumrah scored just three runs out in this over to give Dhoni out. After Bumrah, Malinga got 7 runs. Now, 23 runs needed for the last two overs.


Mitchell's ball which made Mumbai champions: Smith hit six in the 19th over and brought Pune back to the match. Now it was 11 runs needed in the last over and Mitchell Johnson came to bowl. Manoj Tiwary was stunned on the first ball of the over. On the other ball, Tiwary caught Pollard in an attempt to hit six. Smith hit a powerful shot on the third ball but Ambati Rayudu on the boundary line caught a good catch. Smith faced 51 balls and faced 51 balls.


Now, finally, six runs were needed to win in two balls. Daniel Cristian scored two runs on the fifth ball. Christie put a strong shot on Akhil Ball, the ball reached the boundary line but got only two runs and Mumbai won the match by one run.
