Humiliating Defeat for India in the Finals of the Champions Trophy

The match between India and Pakistan always creates widespread attention and curiosity. For the fans of both the teams, nothing could be more humiliating than the loss of their favourite team. And when the defeat is as humiliating as it was today, there is a time for introspection. The Indian fans are feeling dejected and rejected. Some blame strategy, whereas some blame the decisions.

All eyes are on the moment-changing equation. The slightest mistake in the strategy can be huge on any team. Especially all the hopes of the fans on the captain's decision on the field remain unchanged. But if everything is not going well during the match, then the captain comes into the circle of questions. Something similar happened on Sunday in Oval, where Virat Kohli's decisions were not encouraging for India. Team India kept on losing wickets at the regular intervals.

A look at Kohli's captaincy mistakes and team's flaws

1.   Considering the strong batting order of India, winning the toss of, the fans did not embrace to take Pakistan to the batting. Pakistan took full advantage of it, though luck also appeared with the opposition team. When Fakhar was on three runs, then he was caught on the ball of Jaspreet Bumrah, but it proved to be a no ball. Eventually, team India came under the pressure of big scores from the Fakhar century.

2.    Ravichandran Ashwin was hurt during practice in knee a day ago. His participation in the play was not decided. Eventually he was inducted into the playing XI. Virat expressed his confidence in him and bowled the entire overs out of the quota. But in 10 overs, he conceded 70 runs, without even a single wicket.

3.    Kedar Jadhav came very well in the match against Bangladesh. But in this match the captain remembered him quite later. He was given balls in the slog overs. Jadhav conceded 7 runs in the 39th over. Although in the 43rd over, he took 1 for 4. But, in the 45th over, Jadhav conceded16 runs. And after that he was removed from bowling.

4. Fans believed that Virat Kohli should have used Yuvraj Singh on such occasions. Yuvraj, as a change-maker, could prove to be economical for India.

5. India's top batting order split in the final of the Champions Trophy. The middle order of the Indian team was not tested till today. But, when the time for performing the middle order came in, it stumbled. Its performance came to the fore.
