Chath – The Festival of People’s Faith

Chhath Parva  or Chhatha Kartik is a Hindu festival being celebrated in Shukla Paksha. This unique Lokpwarv of Sun-UPasana is celebrated mainly in eastern areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. Gradually this festival has become popular in the entire Indian Diaspora as well as in the world.

Chhatha Vachha Chhath, is a disfigurement of the word Shashthi, named as 6th day after Deepwali. The most difficult and important night of this four-day fast is the Kartik Shukla Shishthi being celebrated after Diwali of the new moon of Kartik month. Due to the celebration of the festival of Kartik Shukla Paksha, it was named as Chhath.

Why the Festival of Chath?

Chath is a famous festival of sun-worshiping in India. Originally it is called Chhath due to Shasti's fasting. This festival is celebrated twice a year. For the first time in Chaitra, and the second time in the month of Kartik.  The festival which is celebrated on Chaitra is known as Chaiti Chhath whereas the festival that is celebrated on Chaitra Shukla Paksha Sashthi, is called Kartiki Chhath. This festival is celebrated for achieving family happiness and prosperity.

Chath Pooja: A Gender-neutral Festival

Men and women celebrate this festival equally. Many stories are prevalent to Chhath Fast.  According to one of them, when Pandavas lost their entire palace in gambling, then Draupadi kept Chhath fast after being told by Shri Krishna. Then their wishes were fulfilled and Pandavas got back the palace. According to the tradition of the people, the relation between Sun God and Chathi Maiyya is of brother and sister. The Sun worshiped Chathi Maiyya firstly and after that a tradition of worshipping her became prevalent.

The Scientific Angle of Chath Pooja

If the Chhath festival is seen from a scientific point of view, special astronomical transformation takes place on  Sishthi (Chhath) date.  At this time, the ultraviolet rays of the Sun are collected in the greater quantity on the surface of our earth. The fasting on this day provides us the  ability to protect as much as possible. Celebration of festivals is possible to protect the animals from the harmful effects of Sun’s light (ultraviolet ray).

In normal state, the amount of ultraviolet ray reaching the surface of the earth is in the limit of tolerance of humans or organisms. Therefore, it does not have any particular harmful effects on humans in the normal state, but the harmful germs die by that sunlight, which benefits humans or life.

How do Chhat days are celebrated?

This festival is of four days. It starts from the third day of Bhaiyya Dooj. On the first day, Senda is taken as salt, vegetable curry of Arva rice and pumpkin made from ghee. Fasting starts from the next day. Vrati renounces food and water throughout the day, after about 7 p.m. in the evening, after offering the pooja, they receive the Prasad, which is called Kharna.

On the third day, the devotees offer milk to the Sun. Purity is taken special care of on all four days; Garlic, onion is strictly prohibited. Women sing Chath Songs in the house of those devotees who take fast and observe penance. On the third day, the setting sun is worshipped whereas on the fourth or final day, the rising day is worshipped. Offerings of worship are provided to the people.

Format of Celebration

Chhath Puja is a four-day festival. It starts with Kartik Shukla Chaturthi and ends with Kartik Shukla Saptami. During this fasting, the fast continues for 36 hours. During this time the devotees  do not even accept water.

Nahaye Khaye

On the first day, Kartik Shukla Chaturthi is celebrated as 'Naray-Khay'. Firstly, the house is cleaned and things of religious offerings are kept there. After this, the Chathvratis start their fast taking a pure vegetarian diet after taking bath. All the members of the house take food after the Vrati takes her/his food. Pumpkin-pulse and rice are taken as food. This pulse has  to be of gram.

Lohanda and Khanna

On the second day, in Kartik Shukla Panchami, after  the fasting day, the Vratis take food in the evening. It is called 'Kharna'. All the people nearby are invited to take the offerings of Kharna. In the form of Prasad, with the rice molasses made of sugarcane juice, milk, rice pitcher and ghee are made of chapadi bread. It does not use salt or sugar. During this time, special care is taken to clean the house.

  Sandhya Arghya

On the third day, Kartik Shukla Shishthi is made to offer Chhath in the day. In addition to Prashad, the rice laddoos(Thekuwa) are also prepared by the devotees.  Apart from these, the mold and fruits brought in the form of offerings are also included as Chhath Prasad.

In the evening,  all the items of offering are bedecked in a basket of bamboo , and with Vrati, the family and all the neighbors go towards the Ghat to pay obeisance to the God Sun and offer Him the religious offerings. Almost all religious people gather around the Ghat and the entire area gets emerged in religious festivity. During this, a fair-like scene is created for a few hours.

   Usha Arghya

On the fourth  and final day of Kartik Shukla Saptami, the Vratis throng the Ghats in the wee hours, well before the sunrise time. The entire gang of religious people follows them. Again the process of the previous evening is repeated. All the devotees take a holy dip in river, pay obeisance to the only visible God of the universe, i.e., Sun, offer him the things that they prepare in their homes, seeks His blessings for their loved ones and after that they come back. Prasads get distributed in the people who pay a visit to Ghat and those who stand in the path welcoming the Vratis.

IIT to Increase 1000 Seats from the next Academic Year

Good news for students who want to do engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). With the next academic session, at least one thousand additional seats will be increased in 23 IITs across the country, which will give more students an opportunity to study from this prestigious institute. The Senate of the new IIT institutions will send this new proposal to increase additional seats soon for approval by the Joint Admission Board (JAB), which is authorized to take a decision on this matter.

A senior official of the Human Resources Development Ministry said that the increased number of seats will be in new campuses like IIT Mandi, Hyderabad, Ropar, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, Indore and Gandhinagar. But seats in the old campus like IIT Delhi, Mumbai, Kanpur and Kharagpur are also likely to increase, although the increase in seats in these institutions will be less. The official said that construction work in new campuses of IITs is going on very fast, so that more students from the next session can get admission in these institutes. Increasing one thousand additional seats will increase the number of students studying in IITs to about 12 thousand. Currently, 10,998 students study in 23 IITs across the country.

Special seats for girls
Another senior official of the Human Resource Development Ministry said that special seats for girls in IIT will be marked from the next academic session. This will increase the presence of girls in IITs. In the ratio of total students studying in IIT, the number of girls is only 8 percent. This year, IIT's Joint Admission Board (JAB) had decided to increase the seats of girls to 14 seats i.e, 600 seats. This has risen the number of seats allocated for girls in IIT to 1440. Now the Human Resources Development Ministry wants to increase it further.

 Option to eliminate unpopular courses
In this academic session, about 400 seats were increased in IITs across the country. Although despite seven rounds of counseling, 121 seats remained vacant. While 96 seats were vacant in the last academic session, there were only 50 seats vacant in 2015. An official of the Human Resource Development Ministry said that IIT has the option to eliminate unpopular courses to fill the vacant seats. Instead, seats for popular and more scope-oriented courses can be increased. However no decision has been taken in this regard yet.

JEE Advance, 2018 website launched, the official website of the JEE Advanced Examination to be organized in 2018, has been started. This time IIT Kanpur has the responsibility to conduct JEE Advanced Examination. This examination will be held on May 20, 2018. This time this test will be completely online. According to reports, the examination will be held in two sessions. The examination will contain 2 papers - Paper One and Paper Two. The scheduled time for both paper exams is 3 hours. How to Make Effective Resume?

Resume is the first staircase to get a job for any student. The resume represents you, your work, your areas of expertises and experiences. The resume necessitates your presence, or negates it. It makes a good or bad first impression about you, so it should be prepared like this so that you can be seen as the biggest contender of the job. Many people send the false and incomplete information to the company to make the resume tall and impressive. But, ultimately it proves to be more disservice than good.

Given below are some of the tips that help you make an effective resume:

Identify the need of the company

You should prepare your resume according to the needs of the company. Besides, keep in mind that what are the company's expectations for this job and whether your resume caters to the needs and requirements published by the company.

Gather information

Also gather information about the company's background. This will allow you to better represent your resume. You should present your work according to the company's  requirements so that when the HR sees your resume, it catches her/his eyes.

 Can take Help

You can also support the CV of others to improve your CV. You can also seek help from your professors, office colleagues or seniors. Today is the era of Internet. You can take help of youTube and various websites by typing “how to make impressive resume” or the similar keywords.

Write in the Bullet form
You should write your current job responsibilities and working background in bullet forms. It is simple because the HR department will turn a nelson’s eyes on what were you or in what position you were working as. The department will like to know about your current strength and abilities and the current job responsibilities could turn to be its strongest indicator.

Keywords are Prime
These days, many recruiters use electronic media to shortlist resumes. Their special scanner identifies the keywords used in resume and shortlists them. So keep in mind that all the keywords related to the job are used wisely, so that the possibilities for you could become higher.

Say in little words
Resume presents the first identification of your personality and abilities. Its purpose is to invite the employer to interview the candidate. So, talk as short as possible in resumes. Avoid making long pods because any employer does not read too long resumes. So save yours and others' time.

Keep Ability Up
No mention of a professional course, related training or workshop should be done. Do not include any courses that are not related to the job, in the resume.

Make your Resume free from any spelling mistakes

Once you complete the CV, carefully read its each and every sentence. It is good to read it two or three times for some reasons. If the employer finds mistakes in spelling or typographical errors in your CV, then your impression will go wrong. Making spelling error in resume is like a crime, you should make sure that you have not committed.

How to Handle a job Interview Successfully?

Many times we think that our interview was very good and try hard to know the reasons why we did not get selected. In such a situation, you should refrain from overconfidence and think about where the mistake is happening. Today, we will tell you what to do if you invariably fail in interviews. Keep on reading of you want to make your interview successful.

Many of us often follow the great expectations of getting a job here by giving interviews in a particular place, but when there is a negative answer from there, it gets repulsed. It is often in our country that the candidate has to wait a long time for the results of the interview. Companies here not only take time to tell the results, but also perform many actions during that time. Hence, it is very difficult for a candidate in waiting. If the answer is not in affirmative after good interview and long wait, it is often difficult to guess as to where the mistake was done, or what are the grey areas you need to work on?

Given below are some of the tips that will help remove your obstacle and make yourself successful in interview:

Make a Firm Handshake and Present yourself impressively

It is rightly said that an impressive presentation is like answering 100 questions correctly. The moment the interviewers see you, they should get an impression that you are calm, composed, pleasant and interesting to talk to. The moment you present yourself, give them a firm handshake with genuine smile on your face and a gentle glance on each of the interviewers. Take your chair after your interviewers and make yourself at ease on your chair impressively.

No Body is the Answer of All Questions

Take home this notion: no body is the answer of all questions. You may not know some questions and you need not pretend that you know these. Mind, you can’t outsmart your interviewers. Instead of pretending that you know the answer (that you do not know) a straight answer  “I do not know” will make a good impression of yours. But, you should be able to satisfy your interviewers with your answer and welcome their questions with a pleasing and contagious smile. Eye contact does also play an important role while answering questions. You may change your attention from one person to another to make your presence more emphatic.

Be positive for the result

Many people give interviews to get a job. So while giving an interview, think that you are not alone to get this job. So keep your view positive. In fact, the reasons and decisions related to hiring a suitable candidate for vacancy in any institute are not clear to the candidates who are interviewed frequently. Despite your good performance, there may be some reasons for which it is necessary for the management to think. Your rejection may not necessarily mean, you are not capable of. There are so many things that the management members have to keep into consideration and any rejection may not relate to your competence or capability.

Know the opinions of  other

If the result of your interview was not favourable, do not feel dejected and rejected. Do not waste even a single moment in despondency. Rather, utilize this time talking to your seniors, the persons you know will provide you tips for the next interview. You may introspect and come to know as to where the mistake was done. Were you little bit nervous, or some questions went wrong in over-confidence. Expert opinion along with introspection will best serve your purpose.
Shortly after the result of the interview, you can ask eloquently to recruit the politician to get detailed feedback about which side you are lacking or how you can improve your performance in the future. This will be your second upcoming interview and you can succeed in it.

Talk to HR

How was your interview? To find out this, you can also consult the HR professional who can help know about your shortcomings and also provide you the tips on how to overcome it/these. HR professional conducts several interviews so she/he understands what is best, how to perform best with regard to an interview.

Karva Chauth in India

Karva Chauth is a major festival of Hindus. This festival is celebrated in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan of India. This is celebrated on the fourth part of the Kartik month's Krishna Paksha. This festival  is celebrated by the married women. This fast begins after around 4 o'clock in the morning before sunrise and completes after the moon observation.

From rural women to modern women, all vows of Karva Chauth are kept with great reverence and enthusiasm. According to the scriptures, this fast should be done on the day of Chandrodayavidini Chaturthi of Krishna Pax of Kartik Mass. Bhalchandra Ganesh ji is celebrated on this day to achieve the longevity and long fortune of husband. Even in Karawachoth, like the catastrophic Chaturthi, it is the practice of eating food after fasting throughout the day after giving it to the moon. At present, Karavachoth Vratosv is being celebrated by most women according to the customary practice in their family, but most women await Chandrodaya while remaining in fast.

It is the law of fasting karakchuturni (karva-chauhan) to the Chaturthi of Kartik Krishna Paksha. The specialty of this fast is that only fortunate women have the right to fast. Loopholes of Current Education System

Education is an enlightening experience which makes us able to live in a better world.  It is therefore the basic need for every being as education is not only about being literate, but it is also about how to behave, how to speak,  how to deal with your problems and to lead an ideal life and make the society better.

Education in India has progressed in past few years in both urban and rural areas. But here the matter of concern is-- Is it really serving its purpose? As it is said there are two sides of every coin-- so there are two facets of this issue too. On one hand, it is making people literate, helping them to be aware of their day-to-day problems and issues but on the other hand somewhere people are not getting the fruit of education.

In India, one needs to get very good marks or come in merit list just to get promotion in senior grades,  either schools or in colleges. Most of the students mug up the subjects or do assignments just to pass or to score good grades, but they may completely forget even the basics after shifting from one grade to another. Why it happens? What do you think?  Because those basics were learnt just to get the grades. Though, it is not the case of all the students, but of course most of us have to face it.

Coming to the assignments, they are given to develop students' skills, concept and understanding, but has somebody thought that do children really gain something from them? Along with their regular studies, these weekly assignments put pressure on them. That's why most of children get their weekly assignments done from their parents, guardians, tutors or seniors, etc.  Some of them get stressed out. One of my nieces got an assignment to make a model showing the effect of water conservation, when she was just six years old and  a student of UKG. She didn't even know the meaning of water conservation.  Then, just think how could she make her assignment on her own ? It's really a great matter of concern and the educationists of today, must not turn a Nelson’s eye on this.

They may be counted as bright students in the class, but due to such pressure, they get affected physically and mentally. They cannot get involved  in family get- together, neither can spend good time with their relatives or friends,  or get time to take part in outdoor sports activities. Their all-time engagements make them aloof even from their hobbies and ultimately family matters take a back seat for them. This all makes them emotionally weak with the passing time. This leads to so many physical and psychological problems like--- hyper-tension, depression, insomnia, blood pressure, diabetes, etc. at very young age.

Apart from these, those children who get their assignments done by someone else,  do not get any idea of the basic concept behind these.

Some years back, government made value education necessary in primary classes. It aimed to make children learn basics of social and behavioural thinking and manners. Its assignments were created in such a manner so that it could help children develop an all-round personality. But unfortunately, most school administrations follow its syllabus very lightly, just for formality.

In such an education system, how can we expect our wards to be all-rounders, given the facts that the system fall short on providing concepts, but seems to be hell-bent on assignments and other less important things?
